QUI at Plaza Club 09/16/07

I've never been seeing David Yow who came back as key member of QUI recently for last decade.
I have ever seen Jesus Lizard once, which showed up on one of the festival in Japan. That was when I've just started to work after my graduate.
I remember that live. When the show was about start, David said to audience, "Move!". Then everyone went forward. That was one of most amazing show to me.

After about ten years, he was in front of me again. He is very special and something crazy man when he sing.
All I have to say is I'm lucky to be alive and see his play even though they are not jesus Lizard.

Pelican at Richards in Vancouver Aug15 07

This diary is the first update in last a few months.
I have another SNS site and can't often make a time to update for both.
As of now I am thinking to use this site to make a diary about live review.

Ok. Here I go.
It's Pelican. This is the one of band I enthusiastically love.
This is metal band? Of course, No. It's hard to categorize but no need to do.
Though there are various instrumental indie band, they are absolutely special.
Show was as good as the one I went to see last year.
I hope them to come back here soon!!

Coachella 07 2nd day [The Nightwatchman]

Tom Morello (ex Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave) was playing his solo as The Nightwatchman. He was singing like Bob Dylan. Tom is not only musician but also politician. I suppose he will put his step into more politics field to change something in the near future.

I went to their show in Vancouver on the previous tour. Their music is just old style rock. They are come from Ireland and very famous band next to U2 there. On this show Vocal got high and threw his guitar into the air. Then sound condition became terrible. Their play was broad casted on web. It was enough to underestimate them.

Making it short, Yeva is just like mixture heavy rock. However, they are from Puerto Rico. Their root of music consist of Salsa or Meringue. Occasionally immature mixture band try to take advantage of that kind of music. Most of them are fake. Yeva has a lot of talented musician. Senior guy who is supposed to reach 60 years old, he was playing the guitar like 70's guitar player. The bassist has good sound. Vocal is not good at his looks, though. Yeva is a good underground band.

There are some shade tent at Coachella. This art was standing at one of the shade. This wooden fence seemed to be made by Chinese cedar. I had been in a little sleep until some show started at around 2:00.

There are some strange pole. Each pole has two switch. You would curiously push either switch. Then 8 bit sound which you have ever heard some sound on old famicom was orchestrating just like certain music.

My 1st day at Coachella ended. I was so tired that I couldn't wait for nect comer Bjork. I gave up her show and went to the motel I booked.

It was the first show in last 13 years. Sonic Youth was not quite different from them at that time. The first show I saw was back to my college days. They came to Nakano Sun Plaza along with Boredoms. I was so lucky to see their play again.

It's Mike Patton's solo works named as Peeping Tom. Actually his debut album was not special but OK to me. However I found I underestimated this music. Mike is a spectacular singer, performer, and actor. He put various essence of music in this world. His band member were also cool. There was some issue with instruments but eventually it was fixed. I wish I went their Vancouver show a week before the Coachella.

I've never heard their song and the songs were boring to me. I left while they played a few songs.

It was 2nd show to me. First was back to last May at Commodore in Vancouver. Their play was so tight and there was ceratain groovvvve!!
I like their guitar cutting play style. I will try to listen to the recent released 2nd album sooner or later.
Arctic Monkeys is one of my favourite UK band.

I've been looking forward to seeing Perry Farrell plays. His new band includes Nuno as lead Guitarist. At this point this band make me exciting. As Perry sing, it is his world there. No need Stephan and Dave Navarro. He can make it without their old fellow.

The band seemed to be a kind of fresh band. They missed some riff but it was OK. "STOP", the only song they played from Janes Addiction material was great!!

See you at Lollapalooza!!!

The road to Coachella

Finally I came to Palm Springs Airport at 12:30.
I found the rent-a-car check in counter and waited for my turn. Only 1 clerk was working there. So it took a long time to pass the check in. An 1 hour later I got the car. It was a big car though I offered an economy car. Seeing the portable map, I had to figure out where I was driving. I wasted 30 minutes. Soon I turned into the highway and went forward to Indio. it was not jammed on the highway. But the road from highway exit to the festival venue was so crowded by a lot of cars. After all I could pulled off my car at 16:00.
